Gig Harbor, WA, United States of America
Job Title: Operations Manager
Location: On-site in Gig Harbor, WA
Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Head of Operations
Compensation: $80,000–$100,000 annually + medical/dental, 401k match, and PTO
At Farmgirl Flowers, we’re on a mission to deliver joy through thoughtfully designed flower arrangements that are anything but ordinary. We’re a bootstrapped, female-founded and predominantly female-run, and values-driven company that believes in hard work, creativity, and doing the right thing—even when it’s the hard thing. If you love rolling up your sleeves, leading by example, and thrive in fast-paced, ever-changing environments, you might be a great fit to join our team!
We’re looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to manage the day-to-day (and sometimes night-to-night) magic behind the flowers. In this role, you’ll be a key player in keeping our production, fulfillment, and logistics humming along smoothly. You’ll work closely with our Head of Operations and collaborate with teams across the U.S. and South America to ensure every bouquet (or realistically, as many as humanly possible!) arrives on time and up to our high standards.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This role is in person - you won’t convince us otherwise, so please don’t try! ;) - and comes with longer hours and a “whatever-it-takes” attitude during peak floral holidays. These holidays include Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. PTO blackout periods apply around these holidays so we can deliver the best for our customers when it matters most. The whole team steps up during these periods — and that includes the leadership!
Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of customer orders and troubleshooting issues for our network of farm and fulfillment partners (perishables + high-touch distribution = never a dull moment!).
Monitor workflow, staffing, and throughput to keep operations efficient, accurate, and running smoothly.
Troubleshoot in real time and implement longer-term process improvements—working cross-functionally with internal teams to strengthen systems and operations.
Oversee inventory across multiple facilities in North and South America, ensuring it’s ordered, tracked, stored, and used accurately and efficiently.
Manage relationships, performance, and spend with transportation partners to ensure reliable, cost-effective delivery that meets our standards and budget.
Work closely with the Head of Operations to identify and onboard new distribution partners, making sure they align with our quality standards, brand values, and operational needs. You’ll be responsible for setting them up for success—from initial training to ongoing support—and will travel as needed (up to 20% of the year) to be hands-on during launch phases and critical touchpoints.
Collaborate with the Head of Operations on forecasting, production schedules, and budget planning to ensure smooth, scalable growth.
Coordinate with distribution partners on all things logistics—shipping, receiving, inventory, printing, and supply chain—while actively managing product quality, substitutions, and vendor accountability.
Support the setup and ongoing management of our new Gig Harbor facility, overseeing day-to-day operations and helping build a best-in-class distribution hub from the ground up.
Track and report key operational metrics (think: order fulfillment accuracy, delivery performance, inventory turnover, and cost per stem) to help inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
Jump in to lead one-off projects as they come up—whether it’s pulling off a press event, bringing a brand partnership to life, refreshing signage, or solving a one-time ops puzzle. No two days are the same here, so we’re looking for someone who can roll with it and make things happen.
Pitch in wherever needed—packing orders, scrubbing buckets, cleaning, leading floor teams, solving last-minute hiccups—you name it. This role requires a “see it, do it” mindset, so we’re looking for someone who’s willing and able to jump in without being asked—and always with a positive attitude.
3–5 years of experience in operations, logistics, or production. If it’s in e-comm, food, floral, or another fast-paced, hands-on industry—even better.
A roll-up-your-sleeves, get-it-done attitude. You’re a doer, a fixer, and a problem-solver who doesn’t wait around for someone else to notice what needs doing.
Experience leading teams in a warehouse or production environment—and the ability to keep everyone motivated and moving in the same direction, even when things get hectic (and they will get hectic).
Experience working with large-scale transportation providers—think FedEx, UPS, and other major carriers—and the confidence to hold them accountable. That means double-checking billing, pushing for refunds when things go wrong, and not being afraid to escalate when service falls short. We need someone who won’t let things slip through the cracks..
The physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for long stretches. This job isn’t desk-bound (especially during peak holidays), so you’ve got to be ready to move.
Strong organizational skills and the kind of calm-under-pressure energy that helps everyone around you breathe a little easier when things go sideways.
A real understanding that our industry runs on long hours during peak flower holidays—and the flexibility and attitude to match. We’ll be honest: you’ll be working on days when most people are off, and staying late when things go off the rails. We need someone who’s all in, who gets that the buck stops with them, and who shows up ready to do what it takes—with grit, grace, and a can-do attitude.
A positive outlook, solid work ethic, and team-first mindset. We show up for each other here, and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to do the same.
Your work will make a real difference—both for our customers and for the future of our company.
We’re a small, scrappy team where every person (and every role) truly matters. You won’t be a cog in a wheel here—you’ll be a key part of making things happen.
We’ve got big goals—and we make sure to celebrate the wins, big and small, along the way.
We care—a lot. About quality, creativity, community, and doing things the right way (even when it’s the harder way).
No two days are the same. If you thrive in fast-paced, figure-it-out environments, you’ll fit right in.
And of course—flowers. But more importantly, the chance to bring joy to hundreds of thousands of people’s lives each year through something as simple (and powerful) as a bouquet.
Send your resume and a note telling us why you’re the right fit for this position. We can’t wait to meet you!
