Gig Harbor, WA, United States of America
Title: Operations Assistant
FLSA/DOL Status: Non-exempt; Full time
Compensation: $25/hour + Full Medical Benefits + Matched 401K
Reports to: Head of Operations
Location: In-person at our Farm Quarters in Gig Harbor, WA (please note: this is a fully in-person role—remote work is not an option)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional weekends required
Heads-up: Overtime may be needed during peak flower holidays (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas), and other busy times throughout the year.
Farmgirl Flowers is on the hunt for a super-organized, detail-loving, solutions-oriented doer to support our Operations and Product Teams to help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. If you thrive on searching for an i to be dotted or a t to be crossed, checking things off lists, and making big projects run like clockwork—this might just be your dream job.
This role is equal parts administrative powerhouse and project wrangler. You’ll work across multiple departments, juggle shifting priorities, and keep the wheels turning in a fast-paced environment—no two days will look the same (really). You’ll also need to be excited about jumping in wherever needed—whether that’s scrubbing buckets, cleaning the design studio, scheduling hard goods deliveries, or coordinating freight pickups.
We’re a lean, scrappy, and super-fast-paced team. This role is critical to helping us scale smart and sustainably—while staying true to the things that matter most to us: top-quality products, exceptional customer experience, and taking great care of our people.
Farmgirl Flowers isn’t your average flower company—and we don’t want to be. We’re bootstrapped, values-driven, and proud of doing things differently. We aim to be a company we’d want to buy from, sell to, and work for. That means paying above minimum wage, offering solid benefits, standing up for what we believe in—even when it’s hard—and being transparent in how we run our business.
We know that not everyone will share our views, and that’s okay. But we do think it’s important you know what we stand for before deciding if this role is right for you.
Are Type-A (in a good way): Organization is your love language.
Nerd out on systems: You love streamlining processes, managing timelines, and color-coding spreadsheets.
Are tech-savvy: You’re comfortable with tools like Slack, Asana, Excel, and GSuite—or a fast learner who can pick them up quickly.
Thrive in fast-paced, ever-changing environments: Flowers are perishable. Things change. You roll with it.
Can juggle a lot (gracefully): Multitasking is your default setting.
Have experience supporting busy execs: You anticipate needs, get ahead of tasks, and help keep the team on track.
Communicate clearly and kindly: Whether it’s a vendor call, team message, or project plan update, you’re thoughtful and effective.
Are scrappy (in the best way): You don’t wait for permission—you see something that needs doing, and you dive in.
Don’t mind getting your hands dirty (literally): We truly can’t emphasize this enough (hence the long bullet point!). This role is a blend of office work and hands-on labor. You might spend part of your day coordinating shipments or updating a project plan, and the other part scrubbing flower buckets, processing flowers, breaking down boxes, organizing supplies, or cleaning up after a long day of product development. You’ll likely get wet, cold, or dusty at some point—and you’ll love it. If staying active, jumping in wherever needed, and taking pride in doing the unglamorous stuff sounds like your jam, we’ll get along great.
No two days are alike, but you’ll likely be tackling things like:
Assisting product ordering, including placing orders, managing deliveries, and ensuring purchase orders are received
Running as a point person with internal and external partners through Slack channels, WhatsApps, meetings, and more
Supporting project management across multiple departments
Auditing and editing web inventory for bouquets, plants, and other products for sale on farmgirlflowers.com
Organizing meetings, taking notes, and managing follow-ups and action points from meetings from stakeholders
Tracking multiple and simultaneous deadlines for deliveries and project deliverables
Pitching in around the Farm Quarters—cleaning, organizing, scrubbing buckets, watering plants, etc.
Jumping in wherever help is needed—we’re one team that works together to get it done!
You may occasionally work in our warehouses or partner facilities. These are working floral environments, not polished offices—they’re often cold, dusty, and full of buckets (and we love them that way).
You may be required to lift up to 50 lbs, work in coolers (32–45 degrees), or use sharp tools like floral knives and cutters.
Overtime is required during peak periods and holidays—it’s go-time, and we need all hands on deck. Peak periods and holidays often require hours beyond the “standard” 9 - 5. When working on or with our farm and fulfillment partners this often means aligning with their production schedules, which can require early mornings, late nights, and work on weekends.
