Join Our Team as a Lead Floral Designer at Farmgirl Flowers!

Hey there! We’re Farmgirl Flowers, and we’re on the hunt for a super creative, self-driven, and hard-working Lead Floral Designer to join our team. If you love arranging flowers, styling photoshoots, and creating eye-catching content for various platforms, keep reading!

Who You Are:

You’re scrappy (for real, not just in a sounds cool kind of way), creative, and ready to dive into whatever needs doing—especially when it means getting your hands dirty, which happens a lot around here! You have solid floral experience, a great design sense, an eye for color, and a genuine desire to learn all about the Farmgirl aesthetic and brand voice. You can receive and integrate feedback and can’t wait to brainstorm new product designs both on your own and with the team.

What You’ll Do:

You’ll collaborate closely with the CEO, who also oversees our Product team, to fully learn the Farmgirl aesthetic and apply it to designing floral arrangements for various platforms, including our webshop, press events, marketing materials, partnerships, and more. Reporting to the Director of Product, you'll gain hands-on experience in developing and pricing floral recipes, sourcing flowers and supplies, understanding the strengths and limitations of our fulfillment partner network, and analyzing consumer data to inform product design. This position has significant growth potential as you master the role, offering the unique opportunity to work alongside both the Founder/CEO and the Director of Product.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work with our production team on DIY and marketing videos, so it's important that you bring a positive, upbeat attitude and feel comfortable in front of the camera. You’ll also play a key role in styling shoots and collaborating with our Producer and photographers to develop exceptional product and lifestyle content.

We’re seeking someone who is professional, personable, and communicates effectively with both internal teams and external partners. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in tools such as Gmail, Slack, Zoom, and G-Suite are essential. Experience with creative software like Photoshop, InDesign, or Canva is a plus!

You’ll be mostly working in person at our Gig Harbor, WA location, but you need to be open and ready to travel (up to 25% of the time, although it will usually be less frequent) to our design studio in Oakland, CA as well as New York, LA, and other locations as needed for press events.

Your Main Focus Areas:

  1. Product Design & Ideation:

    • Work with the Founder/CEO, who oversees our product department, to create fresh bouquet ideas for our webshop. We’re ideally looking for someone with a similar design aesthetic to Farmgirl: wild, textural arrangements with a bit of asymmetry and a lower contrast petal palette (think peach and pink over red and yellow) that can be executed by our bouquet makers, fit in a shipping box, and delight our customer for as long as possible at home. We will train on the specifics of the how and why of our aesthetic (engineering, consumer preferences, recipe pricepoint requirements, construction techniques, etc.), and it will make the transition faster and easier if the Farmgirl aesthetic is one you’re comfortable with from a design standpoint.

    • Work with our Director of Product to record bouquet recipes—everything from stem counts to flower varieties, distribution and placement, and box sizes. You’ll also work closely with her to learn the strategy around why we create what we create, including consumer demands, pricing elasticity, and consumer spending standpoints.

    • Work with our product and operations teams to source and manage flowers and supplies.

    • Maintain our design studio and ensure our inventory is in check.

  2. Flower and “PD” (Product Development) Coordination:

    • You’ll be in charge of much of the preparation for our product development sessions, including prepping and organizing the design and photo areas, purchasing flowers and hard goods and arranging transportation for them, receiving and processing flowers and goods, helping to arrange accommodations, transportation, snacks and meals for the team, and anything else that’s needed.

  3. Press & Event Design:

    • Brainstorm new and innovative ideas for press pitches with our team and publicist.

    • Travel to Oakland, NYC, LA, and anywhere else that’s needed for press, events, and photoshoots.

    • Manage all logistics for events—ordering and receiving flowers, coordinating setups, and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

  4. Shoot Styling & Marketing Assets:

    • Team up with our Producer and photographers to create content that’s special!

    • Update product photos regularly to keep things fresh and seasonal.

    • Post on social media and write engaging captions that show who we are as a company.

Other Fun Responsibilities:

  • During peak seasons (think holidays!), you’ll be hands-on designing or helping manage at our partner facilities.

  • Help the team with any new product lines we explore as we continue to grow and do exciting things

  • Drive to farms and markets to pick up flowers and supplies as needed. Must have a driver’s license, a reliable car/truck (mileage is, of course, paid!), and be comfortable driving up to cargo-sized vans as needed.

  • May help with planting/harvesting/and any other logistical needs at our partner company as needed.

  • Work with the head of corporate and social events on design offerings, and support her as needed during peak production times.

  • Collaborate with the Customer Service team to answer flower-related questions.

  • Get involved in any floral workshops or classes we may host.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A friendly and professional demeanor—you’ll be a face of our brand!

  • A willingness to jump in wherever needed; we’re all about teamwork at Farmgirl!

  • A lack of ego and genuine willingness to do whatever is needed to get the job done. We can’t stress this enough. Our culture at Farmgirl is one of agility, ownership, and positivity – and we’re looking for team members who want to work at a place where they have an impact every single day.

If this sounds like you, and you’re ready to bring your creativity and can-do attitude to our team, we’d love to hear from you! To apply, please send us a note telling us why you think this position would be an amazing fit for us both, a portfolio or a link to pictures of your floral designs, and a resume. Given the high design requirements for this role, we will not be setting up interviews for anyone who has not submitted pictures of their work. This also is an in-person position in Gig Harbor, WA, and unfortunately cannot be done remotely, so please do not apply if you cannot be in person in Gig Harbor, WA, by the beginning of 2025.

Benefits:
