Brand Storyteller (Photo / Video / Writing)

Gig Harbor, WA, United States of America

Commitment: Part-time | ~20 hours/week
Location: Gig Harbor, WA (on-site, no exceptions)
Reports to: Head of Brand Marketing
Compensation: $30/hour

Farmgirl Flowers is looking for a hands-on creative to help capture and share our world through simple, beautiful photos, videos, and words. This is a true do-er role for someone who loves making content, has great taste, and is excited to learn by doing.

You don’t need fancy equipment or years of experience — an iPhone, a good eye, and strong creative instincts matter more than anything else.

Application Requirement

In addition to your resume, please include a portfolio, Instagram account, or examples of work that show your personal creative taste — not just assigned work or reposts. We won’t be able to review applications without examples.

What You’ll Do

  • Shoot and edit photo and video content primarily on an iPhone

  • Capture behind-the-scenes moments: flowers, the farm, our team, seasons, and holidays

  • Style simple, natural shots using Farmgirl tone, textures, and materials

  • Write warm, thoughtful captions that sound like you’re talking to a good friend

  • Post content to specified media outlets

  • Move quickly, notice moments, and help tell the story of how our everydays are special

A big part of this role will be helping tell the next chapter of the Farmgirl story: documenting and sharing the evolution of our new Farmquarters in Gig Harbor — capturing the build, the land, and the behind-the-scenes moments as we create something special from the ground up.

Creative Fit (Please Read)

This role is for a very specific creative sensibility. Our aesthetic is grounded, warm, and timeless — more like:

  • Flamingo Estate

  • The Lost Kitchen

  • The early days of Food 52 or Kinfolk

  • Martha Stewart (anytime — because, well, icon)

  • Magnolia

If those references don’t resonate, this likely won’t be the right fit.

We’re not looking for edgy, artsy, fantasy-driven, or generic content (for example: holding up a bouquet and saying something like “we dream in flowers”). We’re looking for someone who can create a mood, tell a story, and elevate our everyday — simply and honestly.

Who You Are

  • A real, authentic person who’s more interested in telling a great story than getting the “perfect” shot

  • Curious, observant, and excited to learn

  • Able to tell a story visually and through words that resonate across generations (less trendy, more real)

  • Comfortable shooting and editing on an iPhone in real time

  • Reliable, organized, and happy collaborating in person with a great team

  • Prefers creating and doing over excessive planning or building calendars that don’t translate into finished work

Experience & Tools

  • 2+ years of experience telling stories through photography or video

  • Comfortable using tools like CapCut, Lightroom Mobile, Canva, or similar

  • Very comfortable leading social media platforms

  • Huge bonus points if your writing sounds like you’re talking to your 35–45-year-old best friend 😉

Location & Schedule

  • Based in person in Gig Harbor, WA

  • ~20 hours per week to start (hours can be flexible but need to be during daylight)

  • This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position for the right person who can take on broader creative responsibilities within our marketing team

Why Farmgirl Flowers

Farmgirl Flowers is a 15-year-old, bootstrapped, female-founded (and mostly female-run) e-commerce company with a big heart, a strong point of view, and a deep commitment to quality. This role comes at an extraordinary moment. We’re building our Farmquarters, expanding our physical footprint, and telling our story in a more intentional, meaningful way than ever before.

You won’t be inheriting a playbook — you’ll be helping write the next chapter. If you’re excited by ownership, creativity, responsibility, and the chance to shape a brand with soul, grit, and beauty — we’d love to meet you. Along with your resume, please include a short note sharing why this role interests you, along with a few examples of past brand marketing work — whether writing, video, photography, or a mix.

Benefits

Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage are also available for employees. Employees can enroll in our Flexible Spending Accounts program and the company’s 401(k) plan, which includes a company match. Fringe benefits are available for this role. Lastly, this role is subject to our paid time off/sick policy and will receive ten (10) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
